Junk Food Makeover

Join Jane Hutton for a fun and interactive adult and child cookery class at Truro School Cookery.

This hands-on workshop invites parents and children to work together to transform classic junk food favourites into healthier, nutritious alternatives. Using wholesome ingredients and simple cooking techniques, families will learn how to recreate much-loved treats including protein-packed pancakes, chicken nuggets, flatbread pizzas, and rocky road.

Designed for all abilities, the class encourages family bonding, confidence in the kitchen, and healthier eating habits in a relaxed and engaging environment. Participants will also gain practical skills in food preparation, knife safety, balanced nutrition, and creative presentation.

Suitable for children aged 8 and above.

By the end of the session, families will enjoy the dishes they have created together and leave with recipe cards, nutrition tips, and plenty of inspiration for making healthier choices at home — without giving up their favourite flavours.

About Jane

Jane Hutton is an NHS-commissioned, award-winning specialist in nutrition and everyday eating. A clinical nutritionist, nutritional therapist, chef, educator, author, speaker, and consultant, Jane is passionate about helping people improve their health through realistic, practical food choices.

Growing up cooking with home-grown produce inspired Jane’s mission to make culinary medicine accessible and achievable for everyday life. Through her work with The Functional Food Cookery School, she helps people better understand nutrition and how food can support long-term wellbeing.

Jane is also a qualified teacher, known for making nutrition easy to understand — whether discussing hormones, healthy eating habits, or how to make a healthier version of cake.

Her work includes commissions and consultancy for the NHS, specialist clinics, charities, supplement companies, restaurants, and national media outlets. Jane has also received a UK Enterprise Award for innovation in nutrition.

Cost

  • £90 per adult, including one free child
  • Additional children: £35 each
  • Maximum of two children per adult
